Maxxis, the world’s leading tire manufacturer, has recently launched the latest and most advanced version of its MaxxSpeed compound. This compound is a result of Maxxis’ collaboration with Nino Schurter, the winner of numerous World Championship and World Cup titles in XC history. MaxxSpeed uses a silica filler that enhances both speed and wet traction, reducing rolling resistance by over 25%. This means that a rider can shave up to a minute off their time in a 90-minute race, giving them a significant edge over their competitors.

MaxxSpeed has been tested both in the lab and in real-world conditions, and the results have been impressive. It has aided multiple World Cup and World Championship wins for Schurter and other SCOTT-SRAM riders. This new compound has given Schurter a competitive advantage, which he appreciates in the highly competitive world of XCO racing.

Maxxis offers the MaxxSpeed compound in a full range of XC tread patterns, including Aspen, Rekon Race, Ikon, and Severe, to cater to the variety of conditions and terrains XC riders encounter. The new compound is currently available in 29″ sizes, with 27.5″ sizes set to follow soon. All specifications use Maxxis’ proven 120 TPI, tubeless-ready XC race casing with EXO sidewall protection.

Alongside MaxxSpeed, Maxxis has also launched a new tread pattern called the Severe, which is its new XC mud tire. The narrow, low-volume-casing Severe has a spiky tread pattern and is the go-to tire for rainy races. This tire has already powered through thick mud on the world stage for riders such as Schurter, Bec McConnell, and Anne Terpstra. Like MaxxSpeed, the Severe is newly available to the public and has been praised by Olympian and World Champion Kate Courtney.

In conclusion, Maxxis continues to innovate and push the boundaries of MTB tire technology. With the launch of the MaxxSpeed compound and Severe tread pattern, they have provided XC riders with the tools they need to excel in any race conditions. So, whether you’re a professional racer or a weekend warrior, upgrading to Maxxis tires could give you the competitive edge you need to achieve your best performance on the trails.
